All Stories
Hi everyone. Today is a damp and rainy day.
I did not sleep well last night and I am having digestive issues (IBS). Yesterday I worked very hard around the house. I washed the kitchen and bathroom floors and cleaned my 4 year old's bedroom (which took all afternoon). I still have loads of other things to accomplish around the house, but not much of anything is getting done today. Why do I feel guilty then? I think it is because I am constantly on the go and when I do have a day where I don't accomplish much of anything, the guilt sets is.
My plan for today was not to be a vegetable....I swear! I was going to shop for an Easter dress for Em (Kaye already has one that fits from last year) and possibly get a couple more things for their Easter baskets.

I just finished putting their baskets together and they really do not need any more candy. They went to our church's egg hunt on Sunday and got too much candy! They are attending another egg hunt at another Moravian church this Saturday. It's not just an egg hunt though. It's an 'Eggstravaganza'! They have different stations by age group and the kids do crafts, participate in the Easter story in the church, have a snack time, get their photo with the Easter BUnny and then have their egg hunts by age. We've been going to this one for quite awhile and really enjoy it. Next year will be Em's last year for egg hunts :-(

So what is everyone doing this Easter holiday weekend? We'll be dying eggs on Friday, going to the Eggstravaganza on Saturday, church and my parents house on Sunday. Thursday and Monday are the only days with no plans 'yet', but I do know Jay wants to have my car in for inspection, so probably one of those days I will be without my van.

Wishing everyone a
just in case I do not get to post here between now and then!

Whoah! I did not mean for so many days to lapse in between posts! We've been crazy busy around here. My daughter and her friend f-i-n-a-l-l-y finished their science project on Saturday afternoon. The science fair was this evening. Here is their project on butterflies:
They drew all the butterflies & diagrams, wrote fun facts & definitions on their display board and the girls split the writing of their 6 page report! So proud of them because most of the projects we saw there this evening did not have much of a report, if any, like the directions for the science fair stated!

Also over the past few days we've had two floor guys come and measure our kitchen/dining room for the flooring we decided on. Here is a photo of the flooring:
Now only if we could get our kitchen to resemble something as good as this.

We've had two appointments at our home this week with two cabinet makers. I think that brings the total number of contractors to like six and so far we have only one number back and that number is not working for us ($32,000). So we have to sit and wait for numbers to roll in. In the mean time we have to go pick out a new liner for our pool because in the coming months our above ground pool needs the liner replaced, roots from a nearby tree dug up, padding put in, liner installed and then my husband is going to custom fit a pool deck that he got from a neighbor last year. Too much going on.

So. What else have I been doing this week? Yesterday I got my hair cut (finally!). My hair is thick and when it gets to be one length I get really bad headaches. It feels much nicer now that it is shorter and layered. I've slowly been trying to 'spring clean'. It's a s-l-o-w process with having an 8 and 4 year old, but I feel I am doing okay. For now I am mainly focusing on clutter, things we do not need (got rid of 3 bags of stuff on Monday) and also trying to make more sensible storage solutions.

That is my week in a nutshell so far. I am hoping to blog more often, but this week has just been crazy. Stay with me new friends. I will be back!

I cannot believe it, but an entire week has gone by and I did not get to fully enjoy my very first Ultimate Blog Party. This week has been filled with kitchen remodelers coming by our home for appointments (still awaiting quotes), squeezing in time for my 8 year old Em's science fair project, Em learning how to ride her bike without training wheels for the first time this past Sunday, trying to get a little more organized around the house (I haven't been too successful at this....yet) and much more.

Last night my husband and I found a floor pattern we liked on a blog from 2008 here. We couldn't believe it when we found the exact flooring at the first floor store we stopped at today! (He took off from work today so we could go to some floor stores minus the kiddos----Em in school & Kaye was at my Mom's for the day so we could do this.) There will be someone out on Monday to measure our kitchen and give us a quote for the floor. But wait, it gets better. Since we found the flooring right away, we did not have to visit the 4 other flooring stores on our list. Instead, we visited a custom cabinet maker about 2 miles from our house and they will also be coming out to measure for cabinets and hopefully give us a quote on Monday. We then visited Lowe's to get some ideas, I stopped into Barnes & Noble to use a $20 Groupon that I only paid $10 for (my daughters are getting the $10 gift cards in their Easter baskets), next it was back to the pet groomers to pick up the dog from his bath and then home for lunch. My husband decided to call this wholesale flooring company a few miles from our home to see if they carried the flooring we liked and guess what? They do and it is cheaper than the first floor place we visited! So we will have to make an appointment for that company to come out next. Price of course is why we are checking out all these different remodelers. We have narrowed down some ideas for our kitchen and I will share more on that another day. We went out to dinner tonight at a Hibachi-Grill restaurant and we were all stuffed. The kids had their baths and then we all chilled out and watched the 1991 movie 'Hook' on HBO Family. For now, I just wanted to let everyone know that all of this is why I missed out on the UBP11!

I have made about 40 stops at some blogs this evening and will continue to visit as many as I can as long as the list of links are kept active at the 5 Minutes For Mom site. Thanks to the wonderful ladies who run 5 Minutes For Mom and for hosting this wonderful blog party. Hopefully next year I will be a more seasoned blogger and have more friends to follow and who are following me. Looking forward to continue reaching out to new blogging friends in the future!

Ultimate Blog Party 2011
Jumpin' right in here and joining the 2011 Ultimate Blog Party!
I figure if I'm going to be blogging it'd be nice if someone actually 'read' what I am blogging right? I've added another follower today! Yeah! Three followers! Welcome to my cyber-home!

The Blog Party runs from April 1st-8th and is sponsored by 5 Minutes For Mom. This is their 5th year hosting this blog party. This is a great opportunity to meet new online friends and maybe find someone actually interested in reading my blog (maybe).

My cyber-name is Elle* and I am 39 years old (and holding ~LOL). I've been married to Jay* for 11 years (12 this September). I've been a SAHM since 2002 when I had my 1st daughter, Em*. In 2006 my second daughter Kaye* arrived one day before my 35th birthday. We have a beagle/shepherd dog that we adopted from the local animal shelter two months after we moved in our home in 2000. We love him lots, but he hairs up our home pretty good. (* starred names are my family's cyber-names, not our IRL names.)

So, this blog really is just getting started and I plan on sharing about my life's ups, downs and all around's. Hoping you will stick with me and become a cyber-friend.
Have fun during the blog party!
