Barefoot Season by Susan Mallery
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
This book is about two women who were once best friends until a man and an awkward situation involving Michelle's Dad and Carly's Mom occurred.
Michelle escaped by joining the army, while Carly remained at the Blackberry Inn, helping Michelle's mother operate it. Ten years later, Michelle's mother has passed away and she has missed the funeral due to her injury. Michelle returns home, a wounded army veteran with PTSD. Carly is fearful that Michelle will want to fire her from the inn and she and her daughter Gabby will have nowhere to go.
This book is more about friendship than it is about romance, which most of Susan Mallery's fans are used to the latter.
