What is Bloggiesta?
"Bloggiesta is a blogging marathon (sometimes over a weekend, sometimes four days and this time one week!) where we as bloggers gather together to help each other work on all sorts of blogging tasks, stuff that we often put off and avoid. Or stuff that we’re scared of trying. Or stuff that we haven’t had time for. But during Bloggiesta all that stuff suddenly becomes fun! There are others doing the same thing ! So, it becomes a party!

I just watched the final episode of the television show:

I must admit that I actually thought last season was the end,
but was pleasantly surprised to learn that there would be a sixth and final season. My husband hasn't been a follower of the show, (although he's seen plenty of episodes) and this last season his comment was, "Wow, this show has really jumped the shark!"
Yes, I must agree that much of the storylines have been far-fetched.
It's been difficult to see many of these characters change, move on and the Glee Club change faces so often since the originals graduated and moved on.
But by far, the hardest hit to this show was the death of Cory Monteith who played McKinley High School quarterback, Finn Hudson. Cory and Lea Michele (who played Rachel Berry) were dating in real life since 2011 and were still a couple at the time of his death on July 13, 2013. The show lost a very important player in my opinion and I'm not sure it ever fully bounced back after this. Here is that first performance that had so many hooked on Glee:

If you haven't watched the final two hour episode yet,
I'm not going to post any spoilers, just like I try not to post spoilers when I do book reviews. What I will say is that the first hour of this final episode is devoted to the original Glee members and all the loyal fans who stuck by these characters the past six years. This final episode will remind you why you fell in love with the show, the characters, the talented actors, writers and musicians who brought this show alive. The second half of the final episode will give you some closure on the main characters and what they move on to do in their lives within the next five years. If you DO want spoilers on what this last episode entailed, please check out this Time.com article. Also check out this interview with Jenna Ushkowitz, who played Tina Cohen-Chang and what it was like taping the final episode. Lastly, although this is goodbye for now, I know I will be seeing this show all over again because my twelve year old (whom was only five years old on May 19th, 2009 when the series first premiered!!!!) will absolutely LOVE it! I haven't allowed her to watch Glee because of the adult content, but she loves to sing, is in her school chorus and will get the show's humor in a few more years. I hope Glee will live on through re-runs and that upcoming generations take an interest in the show because between the quirkiness and stinging jokes, there were some great and honest messages.

It has been such a cold and snowy winter here in Northeastern Pennsylvania that it shouldn't be surprising that on the 1st day of Spring we get around
6 inches of the white stuff.
My daughters were dismissed from school two hours early and the roads were terrible. When we got home they both had a snack and then I told them they needed to use their time wisely. They both have school projects due in the near future and I told them that if they used their extra time today they would have some extra time to do something fun this weekend.
Kaye wanted to sign up for the school science fair and is doing her report on Koala Bears. Em has a book report which includes a diorama depicting a scene from her book. This is due on Monday. Em also has a Rube Goldberg report for science and is working on a machine that performs an operation. She will record and then e-mail this her teacher for extra credit.
This morning I did three loads of laundry and started to
'Spring Clean' our back room in the basement.
This consists of going through paperbacks I want to find new homes for, organizing scrapbooking supplies I haven't touches in forever and switching out wardrobes (put away winter and get out spring clothes.)
I finally took down the St. Patrick's Day decorations and decided to go up in the attic to get some Easter decorations down. Very weird to be putting up Spring decor when it looks like we're in the middle of winter outside! (I'm secretly hoping that by doing this I'm keeping away any future snow in our future.)
She'll be in her school district's All City Middle School Choral Concert, PMEA (Pennsylvania Music Educators) orchestra concert (which she was nominated for), her middle school's orchestra & jazz band concert and finally her middle school's Spring orchestra concert. She'll also be going on an end of year band trip to Great Adventure, an indoor water park and an aquarium! She has a few Girl Scout activities lined up as well. She'll be camping out at a local amusement park and then spending the following day riding the rides. She's also going on a hiking trip along a river and there are a few more trips her Girl Scout leader has planned I'm sure. I do not remember being this busy when I was a 6th grader, that's for sure!
Of course all of these activities keep me (Mom) busy as well. Early morning practices, a few Saturday morning practices here and there this month, along with fitting in the normal day-to-day errands & activities.
So, if you see that I haven't posted much on the blog, it could be because I'm playing taxi-cab driver more than I'm finding time to to blog.

A Taste of Sauvignon by Heather Heyford My rating: 4 of 5 stars
A Taste Of Sauvignon is the third book in Heather Heyford's debut series, the Napa Wine Heiresses. This book follows the eldest sister, Sauvignon 'Savvy' St Pierre.
Savvy decided at the age of thirteen that she would become a lawyer. She's working for a small law firm in her hometown in Napa Valley and is being assigned her very first case. On her way to her firm's weekly meeting she accidentally hits the neighboring farmer's chicken with her car when it runs out into the street. She doesn't know much about the neighbors since she and her sisters were sent away to boarding schools on the East Coast when they were young and then they attended college thereafter. The St. Pierre's cook Jeanne is friends with the neighbors since she's been buying vegetables from their farm stand for years. Savvy knows that her father, famous vintner Xavier St. Pierre, does not see eye to eye with them, but she doesn't know why.
Savvy meets the neighbors when Mrs. Morales and her son Esteban come out to her car to retrieve the chicken she hit. Savvy is awestruck by Eteban the "agrilicious, king-sized man in faded jeans." Mrs. Morales invites Savvy into the house for some tea and Esteban is perturbed that his mother is treating Savvy like the victim instead of the chicken.
Savvy finally goes off to her meeting and is assigned a case with a group called NTI who would like to acquire a piece of property in the Napa area. The NTI group is making a million dollar offer for the land, but it isn't until Savvy sees the address of the land that she realizes she will be seeing Esteban again because it is the Morales' land the group wants to purchase.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am quite sad that I have to wait until Fall 2015 for the 4th installment of this series. A Taste Of Sauvignon is available to Pre-Order now and will be available to purchase on April 14. 2015.

"On October 29, 1948, a postage stamp was issued to honor Juliette Gordon Low, the founder of the Girl Scouts organization. Juliette "Daisy" Gordon Low was born into a prominent Savannah, Georgia family in 1860. At boarding schools in Virginia and New York, Daisy showed great interest in and aptitude for literature and the arts, as well as a love of animals and nature. After school she traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe, and in 1886, she married British heir, William Mackay Low. After suffering from brain fever as a child, she had experienced severe hearing loss in one ear, only to lose hearing in the other ear when a piece of good-luck rice from their wedding reception pierced her eardrum.
The Lows' marriage lasted 19 years until William's drinking and philandering forced Daisy to seek a divorce. During the process, he died suddenly, leaving most of his estate to his mistress. Wanting to do something productive with her life, Daisy was inspired by a meeting with Sir Robert Baden-Powell, founder of the Boy Scouts and Girl Guides, and began to focus her energies on spreading this youth movement to the United States.
In 1812, Daisy started the first Girl Guides group in the United States. The next year, the organization changed its name to Girl Scouts. Daisy Low dedicated the rest of her life to bringing girls from varied backgrounds together, introducing them to the natural world, developing their skills of independence and resourcefulness, and preparing them for futures as professional women involved in their communities. Juliette Gordon Low died of breast cancer in 1927. By 2001, the organization she founded with 12 girls 89 years previously had grown to 3.7 million members."
This year marks my daughter Em's 7th year and my daughter Kaye's 3rd year as Girl Scouts. Em is in her 1st year of Cadette's and Kaye is in her 1st year of Brownies. They've both enjoyed many exciting activities and bonding experiences through scouting.
This year is bittersweet because Em is leaning towards not joining scouts next year. She has a lot on her agenda with being involved in her middle school's orchestra and chorus programs, sewing club after school and church choir practice once a week.
(Not to mention the the time it takes to complete the increasing amount of homework middle school doles out.)
I know if she decides to quit scouting, she will miss many aspects of it, but I understand that sometimes you just can't do it all.
Kaye had a Girl Scout birthday party with her troop at her meeting last night and is wearing her Girl Scout vest to school today in celebration of the 103rd birthday. The girls take pride in wearing their vests and talking about all of the badges they've earned.
