Moon Shell BeachMoon Shell Beach by Nancy Thayer
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Moon Shell Beach is about childhood friends, Lexi Lainey and Clare Hart.
The book starts out with a brief background of the girls as children and then teens. The book then flashes forward ten years with a bit of explanation of events that took place within those past ten years.

Nasty things they said to one another broke up their friendship years ago, but now Lexi has moved back to Nantucket Island.

I had a difficult time connecting with these characters because they both held onto relationships with a man for too long a time that they both knew were not right for them. A lot of wasted time in their lives over men that were not right for them and were not faithful to them. I guess I just like stronger character traits in the books I read and this really angered me that they'd settle for these men.

I haven't read any other books by this author other than this one. I want to read the Hot Flash Club series and hope that the women in that series have more strength and courage.

The Blue BistroThe Blue Bistro by Elin Hilderbrand
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Adrienne Dealey is a seasoned front desk hotel clerk and has worked at many exotic locations. She usually flees her positions due to troublesome relationships. This summer she has 3 rules written on a napkin for herself and she intends to adhere to them.

She arrives in Nantucket and gets a tip from someone on the ferry to check out the island's prestigious restaurant, The Blue Bistro. Although she has no restaurant experience, the owner of the bistro sees something in her and hires her. She is informed that this summer is the last for the Blue Bistro, as they will be shutting down for good at summers end. Adrienne wants to uncover the reason for the bistro's closing and she believes it has something to do with the chef, Fiona.

I enjoyed the intricate writing about how a restaurant operates, the grueling schedule, the descriptive writing about the fancy meals that were served and the relationships at the restaurant; employees and patrons. I felt the end of the book was kind of abrupt and felt that it needed a bit more closure.

This was the first book I've read by Elin Hilderbrand. I thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely be reading more by this author.

Three Sisters (Blackberry Island)Three Sisters by Susan Mallery
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the second book in the Blackberry Island trilogy. If you didn't read the 1st book, Barefoot Season, that won't matter because a few of the characters only appear a few times in this book (in the beginning and at the end) and this story isn't tied to the first book at all.

Three Sisters is about a woman named Andi who moves to Blackberry Island from Seattle to get away from her old life. She was jilted at the alter by her fiance and boyfriend of 10 years and has decided to start anew on Blackberry Island. Andi is a pediatrician and buys a home that she wants to convert into her pediatric practice. There are two houses located on either side of the house she purchases. Deanna, her husband Colin and 5 girls live on one side and Boston and Zeke live on the other. The houses are actually known as the 'three sisters' because they are the only houses located on a hill.

It is nice to see how these new neighbors become friends in this book. The third book in this series is called Evening Stars which is due out in March 2014. That book will be about Andi's nurse Nina and her sister Averil. I'm hoping to see more of the characters from the first 2 books in the final installment of this series so we can see where they are at in their lives.
