Saturday, July 23, 2011 ~ My OLD kitchen

Sunday, July 24, 2011 our old kitchen was disassembled.

Monday, July 25, 2011 construction began.

This is the back wall in the kitchen and is an addition of cabinetry. It will make more sense once it is more complete, so check back with my blog for more photos!

So we are on Day 5 of no stove or sink in the kitchen. It isn't fun, but we are doing the best we can. I am lucky in that I have a double slop sink in the basement so I can wash whatever dishes we do use. We are using paper plates, plastic cups and plastic silverware. Normally we don't use much of those things, but in this case we need to.

Currently our remodeling schedule looks like this:
Friday 7/29 - Cabinet doors installed
Saturday 7/30- Granite countertop installed
Monday 8/1- Sink installed and start of tile backsplash
Tuesday 8/2- Completion of tile backsplash
This will be the end of our contractor's job and then we need to schedule the company who is installing our flooring. Hopefully we can get them to come by the end of next week.....maybe.

We are currently shopping for a stove and dishwasher. We found the refrigerator we want on Tuesday, but did not order it yet. Right now the most important thing is finding a stove so we will be able to cook again because my husband said he is NOT bringing the old stove back into the house.

So my blog friends, that is where we are at right now. I am sorry I haven't been blogging, but things have been pretty crazy around here. Ever since Em got out of school in June time has just been flying by. I truly think this summer has been the quickest summer of my life! Em starts back to school on August 29th, so I keep thinking that there isn't enough of summer left for us and we need to do some day trips or something. Not sure what will happen right now since all my focus is on the remodeling projects.

Yes, I said 'projects'. Tomorrow my husband will be checking in with the concrete company we are using to pour a concrete pad in place of our deck. If the contractor wants to start the job next week that means Jay will need to disassemble the deck this weekend and we will not have use of our back french doors for about a week (I'm guessing). Once the concrete pad is complete and passes inspection, then my husband can finally start to retrofit the pool deck he got from a neighbor last summer. I wish my husband had listened to me and had the concrete pad poured early in the summer so the pool deck could've gotten more use, but he didn't want to do that because he thought the kitchen would be done sooner that the end of July. Water under the bridge, but this is just typical Jay not listening to my reasoning and then kind of wishing in his head (and not telling me) that he had listened to me.

More photos of the kitchen will be posted as things are being finished up. Once all the installation is complete, and the new appliances are picked out, the next thing we need to shop for is a new kitchen table, possibly dining room table too. I would also like to buy a new dish set to match the kitchen along with some new glassware, dish towels and rags. Maybe I will start shopping online and share with you some of my findings. Just to make things a little more interesting and get some feedback on possible choices.

Glad to be back with you all and hope we find some new blog followers soon! We are up to 10 subscribers now! Yeah!
